The latest case study from the LeadingAge Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST) highlights the benefits of implementing Independa's solution with Kendal at Home. The report details how Independa's software solutions enhanced the emerging Continuing Care at Home model (CCaH) of Kendal at Home.

Kendal at Home's unique CCaH model allows older adults to continue living independently in their own homes while receiving coordinated services and support. There are approximately 200 active members of the program in 140 households. Independa began a partnership with Kendal at Home after members requested a replacement to an outdated personal emergency response system (PERS). The two organizations worked together to provide a mobile PERS (mPERS) that offers the additional benefit of Global Positioning System (GPS) location capabilities. 

Independa's platform, which was previously featured in the CAST Telehealth Selection Tool, provides a way for Kendal at Home staff, members and family and friends to connect in an easy-to-understand fashion. All interaction can be done through a television – an item that involved parties can use without any training. 

CAST identified the following positive outcomes resulting from the implementation of Independa's technology: 

  • Care managers became more efficient as they were able to set automated check-in and medication reminders as well as connect with care recipients through video chat.
  • Kendal at Home's costs were reduced, as Independa's software suite allows for increased support as the needs of patients increase.
  • Kendal at Home members experienced an improved quality of life.
